Communication Authority of Kenya says they will not shutdown the internet during electioneering period.

In a few days to come, Kenyans will elect their leaders that will spear head the country to greater heights. During this period the internet will be highly used for people to post their own opinions or news, which might not be factual.

During the latest statistics from the Communication Authority of Kenya, our country has 40.5 million internet users. Which is a big part of the population in the country.

Concerns have been raised whether the Communication Authority of Kenya, will shut down the internet during election. But they have confirmed that the internet will be up and running as usual.

Although the CA have said all media houses should submit their official website addresses. This is a good idea, which will ensure media houses are held accountable, for the information they publish in their social media accounts.

Furthermore, the Communication Authority of Kenya concluded that they will shutdown all the fake websites that will publish fake news during the election period.

On top of this the CA has promised that they will shutdown the sites that will spread any type of hate speech. Also the CA says that users both broadcasting houses and individuals, should use their social media accounts responsibly.

However, this comes after the Communication Authority was reported to have spent a lot of money on a social media monitoring system. The system will be able to keep eyes on all the internet users.
